About Us

The O'Neill Community Foundation Fund was established in 1998 for the purpose of receiving, administering and disbursing funds for community betterment. The O'Neill Community Foundation Fund is an affiliate of the Nebraska Community Foundation. This enables the Foundation to insure that your gifts are fully tax deductible under the I.R.S.

Your contributions to the Foundation can be used for specific purposes or gifted to the Foundation with the disbursement of proceeds to be determined by the local foundation advisory committee.

It is the responsibility of the advisory committee to insure that the proceeds from the Foundation are invested back into the community in a prudent and accountable manner.

By continuing to build assets of the Foundation and using only the interest or investment return for projects, the Foundation can continue to grow its base. As its assets grow, so does the amount of money that can be used to fund community betterment projects in the O'Neill community.

Established accounts with the O’Neill Community Foundation Fund

Chamber of Commerce
To maintain the green shamrock painted on the public street at the main intersection of downtown O’Neill. This shamrock is to commemorate the annual celebration of St. Patrick’s Day in O’Neill, the Irish Capital of Nebraska.

Community Center
To support the O’Neill Community Center.

General
An account used by the local Fund Advisory Committee to support and maintain the affiliated fund’s activities within the community.

O’Neill Law Enforcement Account
To provide support for public safety and the O’Neill Police Department in O’Neill, Nebraska. The initial goal will be to provide financial assistance to a K9 dog unit of the O’Neill Police Department.

Unrestricted Endowment
A permanent account whose assets are invested to generate an ongoing source of income year after year. Investment earnings from the endowment are used to support community improvements and programs. The Fund Advisory Committee determines how the money generated from the endowment will be used to benefit the community now and in the future.

Parks Improvement Account
An account to raise funds to make improvements to city parks in O’Neill.

O’Neill Public Schools Athletic Facilities Improvement Account
An account to raise funds to make improvements to athletic facilities and programs at O’Neill Public Schools.
