OCFF Helps Make Fun More Accessible to Children

The O’Neill Community Foundation Fund recently donated $2,000.00 to the O’Neill Public Elementary Playground Mat Project. The students and staff at O’Neill Public Elementary have been working hard to raise the funds to replace the gravel under the playground with a rubber mat.

According to Mrs. Melanie Stepp, fourth grade teacher, “The Elementary currently has students with physical disabilities who are unable to play with their peers at recess time due to the gravel that covers the playground…The gravel has already caused countless injuries to students. The rubber mat will be a safe and accessible material to all students and staff.”

The students and staff are still working hard at meeting their monetary goal to complete this project; the O’Neill Community Foundation Fund is excited to partner with others to make our community a safe and more fun place for our youth. This project will not only benefit the O’Neill Public students, but also other children in the community who utilize the playground.
